All Walking Safaris are led by qualified rangers who have had intensive specialised instruction at Inkwazi, the ranger training school at Phinda Private Game Reserve.

On a Walking Safari, the safety of guests is our highest priority and dangerous animals are avoided. Each Walking Safari begins with a comprehensive demonstration on how to behave when encountering animals.

At the time of booking, guests will be contacted personally by their private walking guide, who will spend time getting to know them in order to tailormake their experience.
The aim is for guests to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot, as they walk between lodges/camps, taking time to observe the small wonders, such as spiders, ant lions, and dung beetles. Along the way, a hearty al fresco brunch will be served under a shady tree, followed by a short siesta in a hammock.
Should guests wish to spend an adventurous night in the wilderness, a private campsite can easily be arranged. A sumptuous bush dinner will be served under the twinkling night sky, and the guests will sleep soundly with nothing but a sheet of canvas between them and the enchanting night sounds of the African bush.
